Not a whole lot of change this week, despite the big ties at Aspen between Delbarton and Morristown-Beard and Randolph and Ridge.
Top 20 (records as
available through 2/12/06)
1 — Seton Hall Prep (13-0-2, 11-0-2 Gordon) Last Week – 1
This Week: 2/15 @ Fairfield Prep (Connecticut); SPP make-up?
I don’t feel this one needs a lot of explanation.
2 — Delbarton (10-5-3, 7-4-2 Gordon) Last Week – 2
This Week: 2/13 vs. SPP
Still anything but convincing in terms of results, they’re the best option.
3 — Pope John (11-4-4, 6-4-4 Gordon) Last Week – 3
This Week: idle/MK make-up?
Lions put together an impressive 4-1 win over St. Peter’s to back up the No. 3 ranking.
4 — Bishop Eustace (13-4-2, 8-2-1 Southern Red) Last Week – 5
This Week: 2/17 vs. MidN
Eustace did it again Friday and is unbeaten in 11 games. Its state tournament seed will be interesting.
5 — Morris Knolls (17-2-1, 10-1-1 MCSSIHL Mennen) Last Week – 6
This Week: 2/13 vs. Ran, 2/16 vs. Hun
Maybe the Golden Eagles can move Pope John into that Thursday slot? At any rate, today’s game should be great.
6 — Morristown-Beard (15-3-1, 9-3 MCSSIHL Mennen) Last Week – 7
This Week: 2/14 vs. Cha, 2/15 @ PDS (NJISAA Prep B Final)
Two games Beard should win, but playing at 8 one night and 4 the next day on the road could be tough.
7 — St. Peter’s Prep (9-6-4, 3-5-4 Gordon) Last Week – 8
This Week: 2/13 @ Del, 2/17 vs. WWPN
I was all ready to waive the statute of limitations on the BE loss if St. Peter’s had beaten Pope John.
8 — Don Bosco Prep (10-8-1, 6-6-1 Gordon) Last Week – 4
This Week: 2/13 @ SJV, 2/17 vs. St. Mary’s (New York)
Ironmen trying to right the ship after a pair of bad Gordon losses.
9 — CBA (7-6-7, 2-6-6 Gordon) Last Week – 10
This Week: 2/15 vs. BM, 2/16 @ MidS
I have to think they won’t make the Gordon Cup playoffs, but picture them as a No. 8 seed in the states. Ouch.
10 — St. John Vianney (8-8-1, 4-7-1 Gordon) Last Week – 9
This Week: 2/13 vs. DBP, BC make-up?
Lancers lost to CBA but still have a good shot at the Gordon Cup playoffs if they can schedule the BC make-up.
11 — Randolph (12-4-3, 9-3 MCSSIHL Mennen) Last Week – 11
This Week: 2/13 vs. MK, 2/15 vs. BR, 2/17 vs. MidS
Believe it or not, the tie against Ridge was an incredibly apt result for this team … ties won’t cut it this week, however.
12 — Bergen Catholic (2-10-4, 2-9-2 Gordon) Last Week – 12
This Week: 2/14 @ RBC, SJV make-up?
Crusaders victims of their own success – one example of the downside of the Gordon Conference.
13 — St. Augustine Prep (11-4, 10-2 Southern Red) Last Week – 13
This Week: 2/17 vs. LaSalle (Pennsylvania)
I almost want to see a state matchup with Bishop Eustace, just to see if they can go 0-for-4. But not really.
14 — Toms River North (13-6-1, 6-5-1 Southern Red) Last Week – 18
This Week: 2/13 @ RFH, 2/14 vs. TRS, 2/20 @ BM?
Mariners profit from opponents’ losses, clinching third in one of the state’s top divisions.
15 — Montgomery (18-2, 11-0 Central White) Last Week – 14
This Week: 2/15 @ SJMet
I can’t drop them too far for one loss, but the Cougars are vulnerable and it will likely hurt their state tournament seed.
16 — Bridgewater-Raritan (15-5-1, 11-0-1 Central Red) Last Week – 16
This Week: 2/15 @ Ran
Panthers still have plenty to prove, but wins over Hillsborough and St. Joseph Metuchen were enough for now.
17 — Chatham (15-4-1, 8-3-1 MCSSIHL Mennen) Last Week – 17
This Week: 2/14 vs. MB, 2/16 vs. Vern
Tough to know what to make of the Cougars … do they match up with anybody besides Knolls? Do they need to?
18 — Hillsborough (19-3, 11-0 Central Blue) Last Week – 15
This Week: idle
Not a lot to fall back on with a Blue Division schedule, but the Raiders did win the season series from Bridgewater.
19 — Ridge (12-4-4, 7-2-2 Central Red) Last Week – 20
This Week: 2/14 @ Pin, WE make-up?
Red Devils really legitimized their stock by tying Randolph but still haven’t locked up McInnis Cup bye.
20 — Clifton (14-2-4, 8-2-2 Northern Red) Last Week – 19
This Week: 2/15 @ Mclr, 2/17 vs. IH
Friday’s result will be an interesting one that the seeding committee will wish it could consider.
