I’ve only seen three games this year, so these rankings are still provisional, but here goes.
White/Blue Top 20 ranking for lower-division teams will be coming around New Year’s.
Top 20 (records as
available through 12/17/04)
1 — CBA (7-0, 7-0 Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/19 @ MidN, 12/22 vs. SPP
Colts have been absolutely dominant and haven’t lost a regular-season game in more than a year.
2 — Don Bosco Prep (3-0-1, 3-0-1 Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/21 vs. Bri
Ironmen earn nod over Delbarton based on 3-0 win over SHP.
3 — Delbarton (2-1-1, 2-1-1 Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/18 vs. Ran, 12/19 @ Bri, 12/21 @ LaSalle (RI), 12/22 @ Toll Gate (RI)
So far, so good for the Green Wave in Gordon Conference, but the big games don’t come ‘til January.
4 — St. Peter’s Prep (2-1-1, 2-1-1- Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/20 @ SHP, 12/22 @ CBA
Marauders appear to be for real, but we’ll know more after road games this week.
5 — Bergen Catholic (1-1-1, 1-1-1 Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/17 @ SJV (unreported), 12/20 @ LaSalle (PA)
Crusaders appear headed for solid but unspectacular season.
6 — Hudson Catholic (2-1-1, 2-1 Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/19 vs. SHP
Hawks will be fighting for Gordon Cup playoff berth.
7—Seton Hall Prep (2-2-1, 1-2-1 Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/19 @ HC, 12/20 vs. SPP
Amazingly, so could the Pirates, who disappointed in a 3-3 tie with Pope John.
8—Pope John (2-2-1, 2-2-1 Gordon Conference)
This Week: 12/22 MKA (Ice House Tournament)
Lions need clutch wins to break reputation as division’s No. 8 team.
9—Morris Knolls (3-0-1, 1-0-1 MCSSIHL Mennen)
This Week: 12/18 Men, 12/20 Cha
Unbeaten Cron Tournament champions slight favorites in competitive Mennen Division.
10—Randolph (4-1, 2-1 MCSSIHL Mennen)
This Week: 12/18 Del
Rams knocked off Mo-Beard 4-3 last week.
11—Morristown-Beard (1-1-1, 1-1-1 MCSSIHL Mennen)
This Week: 12/18 ML
Highly-touted Crimson a disappointment so far, but wait until they’re healthy to judge.
12—Ridge (3-1, 1-1 Central Red)
This Week: 12/18 @ WE, 12/22 @ SJMet
Consistency earned the Red Devils a mulligan on the Montclair game, but they face a tough division.
13—Bridgewater-Raritan (4-2, 3-1 Central Red)
This Week: 12/20 @ HV, 12/22 @ Mclr
Good scheduling with the HoVal game; here’s hoping for a Ridge-Bridgewater rematch in the SCT final.
14—St. Joseph’s Metuchen (2-1-2, 1-1-2 Central Red)
This Week: 12/18 @ North Haven (CT), 12/22 vs. Rid
Good win over Eustace, but loss to Bridgewater and two ties with MKA make me wonder.
15—Montclair-Kimberley (0-1-2, 0-1-2 Central Red)
This Week: 12/18 @ Mclr, 12/20 vs. ML, 12/22 PJ
Yeah, they’re winless, but think of your reaction a few years ago if you heard MKA tied St. Joe’s. Twice.
16—Bishop Eustace (4-1, 4-0 Southern Red)
This Week: 12/20 @ SJHam
Loss to St. Joe’s was tough, but Crusaders bounced back to beat St. Augustine 1-0 for Southern Red lead.
17—Bayonne (5-0-1, 4-0-1 Northern Red)
This Week: 12/20 vs. Vern
Bees beat Middletown South 4-1 to make ranking despite weak division.
18—St. Augustine Prep (3-1-1, 3-1-1 Southern Red)
This Week: 12/19 @ MidN, 12/22 vs. RBC
Hermits need to play some North Jersey teams.
19—Middletown South (3-2-1, 0-1-1 Southern Red)
This Week: 12/19 vs. CBA, 12/21 @ Mtgry
What a great non-conference schedule. Both league games have been very respectable.
20—Notre Dame (5-0, 4-0 CVC Colonial)
This Week: 12/23 Ewi
Will be judged on comparative scores with other CVC teams that actually play mainstream teams.
